Aim of the project

The aim of the project is to locally make physical exercise and sports more accessible and welcoming to migrant women, and other vulnerable groups. through capacity building for organisations and professionals working in the field of sports, migration, or inclusion work. The project will build and disseminate a standardized framework for the European Mentor on the Move which is a programme for sport-based mentoring. The project builds capacity of European organisations in inclusion work that is culturally conscious and based on European values. The European Mentor on the Move project promotes the personal development and self-agency of migrant women and other people who are at a risk of exclusion in the society due to poor socio-economic factors such as unemployment, low education, deteriorating health, lack of social networks or lack of language skills.

As a project partner, Migration Institute of Finland will lead the activities in the research, needs mapping and analysis, and set a theoretical framework for developing the mentoring program.
